Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Scholarship - $100,000 – 20 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) The contest is open to all students of the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes (Grades 9-12) in the public, parochial, private, and home schools within the jurisdiction of the sponsoring state society or district.

SP Scholarship $10,000 – 10 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Be a high school student planning to attend college in September 2018

VIP Voice Scholarships - $5,000 – 1 Award

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Must be at least 13 years of age or older
  2. B) Submit your entry by 11:59 p.m. ET on the day of the deadline
  3. C) You can submit multiple entries by following the instructions on the sponsors website

Maryknoll Scholarship - $1,000 – 6 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Students in grades 6-8 (Division I) and grades 9-12 (Division II) qualify. Entries must be written in English, only one entry per student. Children of Maryknoll employees, associates, and affiliates are not eligible.

Student Photography Scholarship - $2,500 – 11 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) High school students applying for these scholarships must have completed one year at an accredited high school (student must therefore be a sophomore or older) and should have taken at least one photography or related art class

StyleMann Young Professionals Scholarship - $1,800 – 1 Award

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Participants must be students of any educational institution in any location. Academic level and major do not matter.
  2. B) Each student must write an essay

Sixt Scholars - $5,000- 5 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Have a minimum 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  2. B) Graduating high school senior in the USA, academic year 2017/20018

HSC Home Warranty Scholarship - $2,000 – 1 Award

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Open to high school seniors or college students who are legal residents of the U.S.
  2. B) Scholarship payable to the winner who should be living in the U.S.
  3. C) Student must enroll in semester beginning no later than winter 2018

Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Teachers - $2,000 – 5 Awards

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) An undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited two-year college, four-year college or a university; or a high school senior accepted for such enrollment
  2. B) Pursuing, or planning to pursue, a course of study leading toward a career in physics teaching in the high schools

National Space Club Scholarship - $10,000 – 1 Award

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

  1. A) The applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  2. B) The scholarship is open to seniors in high school through graduate students
  3. C) The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university

2018 Michigan Education Association Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must:

  1. A) Be a dependent of an MEA member or ME-Retired member in good standing
  2. B) Graduate of a Michigan public high school or private high school that has an MEA bargaining unit.
  3. C) Will attend or is currently an undergraduate student of a Michigan public community/junior college, four-year degree-granting institution, or vocational institution that grants a degree, certification, or license. Those attending the following private institutions ONLY are also eligible: Baker College-Flint/Owosso; University of Detroit-Mercy; Adrian College; Finlandia University; and Albion College.  (The aforementioned private institutions are existing local MEA affiliate.)
  4. D) Note: Children of MEA officers, fund trustees, and MEA staff are not eligible. (A child of an MEA, MESSA or MEA-FS staff person is eligible if the other parent is an MEA member in good standing.)

The American Legion

The American Legion, Department of Michigan offers high school students several opportunities to gain valuable experience that will last a lifetime.  At the same time, students can earn money for college or earn the needed community services points required on many college entrance applications, including the West Point Military Academy.

American 1 Credit Union

American 1 Credit Union, a 56,000 member financial institution with branches in seven counties, is pleased to offer $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors through its annual Community Involvement Scholarship Program.  American 1’s scholarship rewards students for their involvement in their communities.  Each student who applies for the scholarship will submit an essay, in 1,500 words or less, on the benefits of altruism and how the student has impacted his or her community through their involvement.  Scholarship applications are available with Mrs. Fox-Collins.  Applications are to be completed and submitted by March 16, 2018.

 

CMU’s Full –Ride Lem Tucker Scholarship

Students who dream of a career in the media and communication fields can make that dream a reality with a full-ride scholarship to Central Michigan University that could be worth more than $90,000!  Students qualifying for consideration for the Lem Tucker Scholarship have a:

  • 3.0 high school GPA, or 3.3 GPA for transfer students, and
  • 940 SAT (18 ACT), and
  • Major in a media-related field such as journalism, broadcasting, or public relations

JC Scholarship

Katherine McNutt Zakrzewski & Calista Elizabeth Zakrzewski Memorial Trust

This scholarship is in memory of Katherine Zakrzewski, R.N. and her daughter Calista.  This scholarship is open to any graduating senior carrying a 3.0 grade average.  The student must be enrolling in either a 2 or 4 year Registered Nursing Program.  Applications are available with Mrs. Fox-Collins.  Deadline:  March 15, 2018.

 

Michigan Retailers Association Scholarship Competition

Those eligible to apply are high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores and junior who are:

  • Dependent children of owners of MRA member businesses, or children of full-time employees of Michigan Retailers Association member firms. The parent-employee must have been employed by a Michigan Retailers Association member for at least one year as of January 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded.
  • Part-time employees or MRA member businesses who are full-time students. Part-time employees must have been employed by a Michigan Retailers Association member firm for at least six month as of January 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded.
  • If you need to verify Michigan Retailers Association member status, please call Michigan Retailers at 800-366-3699.
  • NOTE: The applicants or the parents of applicants must still be employed by a Michigan Retailers Association member firm at the time the winners are selected in May.

Hillsdale County Democratic Party – two $500 Scholarships

The Hillsdale County Democratic Party has two $500 scholarships available for Hillsdale County Seniors enrolled in public high schools in Hillsdale County.  They wish to honor a student’s past school performance, current positive contributions to community, as well as his or her understanding of The Importance of Voting in a Democracy as determined in an essay written by the student on this topic.  The scholarships will be announced at each student’s class nigh celebration with a scholarship certificate to be presented at the Truman Dinner in August.  The eligibility criteria includes:

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior and a resident of Hillsdale County with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Applicant must be graduating from a public high school in Hillsdale County.
  • Applicant must be accepted and enrolled full time in any two or four year college, university, or trade school (carrying at least 12 credits) for the fall semester following his or her senior year of high school.

Applications are available with Mrs. Fox-Collins.  Deadline:  Must be postmarked by no later than March 14, 2018.

 

Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship

The Delta Kappa Gamma organization, a group of local women educators is offering a yearly $500.00 (one time only) scholarship to a graduating senior girl in Hillsdale County who has declared her intent to attend college to become a teacher.  Their intention is to encourage young women to go into education by assisting with freshman year expenses.  The eligibility criteria includes:

  • Applicant must be a female resident of Hillsdale County.
  • Applicant must be a graduating senior attending high school in Hillsdale County.
  • Applicant must be accepted and enrolled in any two or four year institute of higher education the fall semester following their senior year of high school.
  • Applicant must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester or be enrolled full time.
  • Applicant must plan to obtain a degree in the field of education.
